Emily Bruflat
|
Emily Bruflat earned a Master's Degree in Sacred Music from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN (2012). While at seminary, Emily took several theology, history, worship, and applied church music courses to gain a well-rounded approach to music ministry. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE (2010). Her undergraduate highlight was to play a Rachmaninoff piano concerto with the Lincoln Civic Orchestra.
Emily plays the organ and piano, directs several musical ensembles, and composes music for worship; relationship-building and community engagement are key elements of this role. She has played in bands and Jazz bands as a trombonist, and she sang as a soprano in the National Lutheran Choir for two years. Emily has served as Cantor/Director of Music at First Lutheran Church since June of 2015. Emily lives in Saint Peter with her partner and their several pets, and they enjoy gardening, camping, and hiking together. She has a new-found passion for gardening with native plants! To get more involved in the greater Saint Peter community, Emily served a term as a city councilmember from 2020-2023 and strongly promoted environmentalism and sustainability. |
