Everyone CAN receive Holy Communion at First Lutheran. No matter your past or present religious affiliation, we welcome you to Christ’s Table to partake in communion with us. All are welcome - no exceptions!
When communing at FLC, you will come forward as directed by an usher and receive a piece of bread. If you would like gluten free bread, you will take it directly out of the little cup to avoid any contamination with the regular bread. You may then eat your bread and go next to the wine/juice station. The wine is always a deep red, and the juice is a white grape juice. Place your used cup on the tray or basket either on a little table or held by an acolyte. Please let an usher know if you would like the pastor to bring communion directly to you.
Any child may receive communion if their caretaker believes they are ready. We offer a First Communion Class in the spring semester primarily for second graders. The next First Communion Sunday will be May 14, 2023. For more information about this, please contact our Children, Youth, and Family Director, Calleigh Carlson: email@example.com If you would like a layperson or the pastor to serve you communion in your home, please contact the church office.
If you choose to worship online or via the Saint Peter Public Access channel, we are confident that God is present as we assemble online and will be present in your own bread and wine/juice served in your home. Check out the bread recipe and the instructional video to prepare your own communion bread!
Starting September 4, First Lutheran will include Holy Communion at every Sunday worship service as we did pre-pandemic. Thank you to our many Communion Preparers, Communion Servers, and Bread Bakers! Can you help us? Sign up below!
